Welcome to Ms. Frazer's "The Evolution Of..." Unit! Over the next few weeks, we will be investigating the scientific field of genetics, or the study of heredity and inherited characteristics. We will learn how traits are passed from one generation to another, and how the recipe for "us" is encoded in each of our cells! Please click on "Week 1" in the navigation menu on the left to get started. And don't worry if this seems a little overwhelming! We'll spend a LOT of time in class talking about how to use our Wiki! :)
What do all those links on the Navigation Bar mean?? Return Home:This link will take you back to this home page. (You can also click on the small picture of DNA in the upper left-hand corner of the page to return home.) Lessons:These links will take you to pages that tell you what we'll be doing in class each week, and let you know if you will have any homework. You can check the lessons for a certain day if you are absent to see what you missed as well. Lessons that will be entirely in class (we won't use this Wiki on those days) are labeled, but there will always be a description of what you can expect to do that day. Underneath some of the Weeks links, you will see another page link. These are where you will be embedded, or editing and adding to the webpage, something that you've created. You can check out those links for directions and Ms. Frazer's example to see the kinds of things you will be learning to do this term. Student Resources: Unit Summary - An explanation of the material we will be covering this term, as well as answers to questions you may have about grading, homework policy, and teacher/student communication.Calendar - A Google Calendar (that you can add to your own personal calendar if you have a Google account!) that will inform you of due dates so you can stay prepared. Gradebook - A link to Skyward, our online grading program.Evaluation/Reflection - Rubrics that you will use to evaluate your progress with your discussion posts and embedding widgets. Technology Resources:How-To Videos - Tutorials for all of the online tools we will be using, in case you've never had any experience with them before.
